Facebook Users In The USA Could Receive Cash Payment From Class Action Settlement

If you were a Facebook user in the United States between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, inclusive, you may be eligible for a cash payment from a Class Action Settlement. A Settlement has been reached between Facebook, Inc. (now known as Meta Platforms, Inc.), and Plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

The lawsuit, In re: Facebook, Inc. Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation, Case No. 3:18-md-02843-VC (N.D. Cal.), alleges that Facebook violated privacy laws. Facebook denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to settle the lawsuit.

This Settlement is a result of concerns over Facebook's handling of user data. In 2018, it was discovered that a political consulting firm called Cambridge Analytica had accessed the personal data of millions of Facebook users without their consent. The scandal led to the Cambridge Analytica lawsuit, which alleged that Facebook violated its own privacy policies and misled users about its privacy practices.

In 2019, Facebook agreed to pay $725 million to settle the Cambridge Analytica lawsuit, which was the largest ever paid by Facebook to settle a privacy lawsuit. The Cambridge Analytica scandal led to calls for Facebook to be broken up and for stricter regulation of social media companies. It also led to a decline in trust in Facebook among users.

The Cambridge Analytica lawsuit is a reminder of the importance of privacy and the responsibility that social media companies have to protect the privacy of their users. If you believe you are eligible for a cash payment from the Class Action Settlement, make sure to submit your Claim Form before the deadline. For more information, see FAQ 10.

In conclusion, if you were a Facebook user in the United States between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, inclusive, you may be eligible for a cash payment from the In re: Facebook, Inc. Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation Settlement. However, it is important to be cautious of potential scams related to this settlement.
